'02 - '03 Varsity Ice Hockey Game Summaries
DATE: December 21, 2002
OPPONENT: Bishop Eustace (Home)
Nick Silvestri left an exclamation point on this game
by scoring three goals and adding an assist. The Blue
and White trounced Bishop Eustace 7-0 thanks to Terry
Robinson stopping all 16 shots in net to preserve the
shutout for the Pirates. Additional goal scorers were
Mike Maglio, Anthony Ferri, Adam Gorelick, and Nick
Lampson.
DATE: January 10, 2003
OPPONENT: Delbarton (Away)
In a tough as nails competition, Seton Hall earned a
2-2 tie against out of division foe Delbarton. The
Pirates turned up the heat in the second period when
Dustin Kennedy scored to get Seton Hall on the board.
Then, with 4:29 left in the game, Adam Gorelick,
practically falling forward, powered passed a
Delbarton defenseman to score the game-tying goal.
For the Blue and White, Kennedy added an assist and so
did Nick Silvestri and Adam Haczyk. The Pirates
outshot the Green Wave 27-24; Kevin Bendel stood on
his head stopping 22 of those 24 shots.

OPPONENT: Bergen Catholic (Home)
Much like the previously summarized game, this recent
bout with Bergen Catholic ended in the same result: a
2-2 tie. The only difference this time was that the
match was with an in-division rival. For the Hall,
Nick Lampson and Adam Gorelick scored while Nick
Silvestri, Mike Cacciotti, and Bryan Haczyk had
assists. Again, standing on his head in net was Kevin
Bendel making 31 saves.

OPPONENT: St. John Vianney (Home)
The Pirates shutout St. John Vianney by the final
score of 3-0. Nick Lampson and Anthony Ferri scored
to get the Hall on the board and Bryan Haczyk added
an empty-net goal to seal the deal. Between the
pipes, Terry Robinson was strong when called upon.

OPPONENT: Princeton Day School (Home)
Are they hot or what?! Over the last 10 games, the
Pirates are 8-0-2. In the most recent romp against
independent Princeton Day School, Seton Hall was
victorious 8-4. Jon Manci scored a hat trick to lead
the Hall in true captain-like fashion.

OPPONENT: St. Joe's Metuchen (Away)
Beating St. Joseph's handily for the second time this
season was the Hall. Bryan Haczyk scored a hat trick,
Nick Silvestri had two goals, and Jon Manci and Dustin
Kennedy added a goal apiece. Final score: 7-2.
DATE: February 15, 2003
OPPONENT: Brick (Home)
This battle with Brick marked the 100th time both
teams have faced off against one another. Seton Hall
was victorious in the centennial game by winning 3-0.
Mike Cacciotti, Adam Gorelick, and Steven Grogg each
scored a goal for the Pirates while Terry Robinson
halted all 19 shots he faced in net.

OPPONENT: St. John Vianney (Home - Gordon Cup Semifinals)
What a dramatic finish! Down 1-0 late in the third
period, Bryan Haczyk came up big scoring the
game-tying goal. Later, in the overtime frame, Haczyk
assisted Anthony Ferri, who notched the game-winning
goal. Ryan Sokerka and Steven Grogg also had an
assist each while Kevin Bendel stopped 33 shots in
net. Final score: Seton Hall Prep 2, St. John Vianney

DATE: March 14, 2003
OPPONENT: Delbarton (Home - State Tournament
Parochial Semifinals)
When it mattered most, Seton Hall Prep got the best of
Delbarton. After suffering two regular season losses
to the Green Wave, the Pirates came out flying in the
semifinal match of the State Tournament. Nick
Silvestri got the Hall on the board by tucking the
puck passed the opposing goaltender's right skate on a
wrap-around play. Assists on the goal went to
Dustin Kennedy and Anthony Ferri. Bryan Haczyk scored
second on a beautiful break-away goal that was set up
by defenseman Alex Sopko. In overtime, Kennedy
whacked the puck in mid-air and into the net for the
game-winning goal. Elation ensued for the Blue and
White, especially by goalie Kevin Bendel who made 31
phenomenal saves throughout the game, as they move on
to the Parochial Finals at the Continental Airlines Arena.
